Über Kobe

Kobe Bryant was born on August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and became one of the greatest basketball players in history. As the son of a professional basketball player, he was introduced to the sport at an early age. Bryant spent part of his childhood in Italy, where he developed not only his basketball skills but also a global perspective and fluency in multiple languages. In 1996, he entered the NBA directly out of high school and was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he spent his entire 20-year career. Bryant quickly rose to prominence, known for his exceptional skill, competitiveness, and relentless work ethic, often referred to as the “Mamba Mentality.” During his career, Bryant won five NBA championships and was selected to the All-Star team 18 times. One of his most remarkable achievements came in 2006, when he scored 81 points in a single game, the second-highest total in NBA history. After retiring in 2016, Bryant transitioned into storytelling, business, and philanthropy. He became a strong advocate for women’s basketball and youth development. In 2018, he won an Academy Award for his animated short film Dear Basketball, showcasing his creativity beyond the court. Bryant’s life was tragically cut short in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. His legacy endures not only through his accomplishments in basketball but also through his influence on athletes and fans around the world.
