Über Diana

Diana, Princess of Wales was born Diana Frances Spencer on 1 July 1961 in Sandringham, Norfolk, England. She was born into a British aristocratic family with long-standing ties to the royal household. Although she would become one of the most recognized women in the world, Diana was remembered not only for her title, but for her warmth, compassion, and humanity. She became globally known through her relationship with Charles, Prince of Wales, whom she married on 29 July 1981 in a wedding watched by millions around the world. Following the marriage, she became Princess of Wales. Diana and Charles had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, both of whom remained central to her life. Over time, Diana grew into far more than a royal figure. She became a symbol of empathy and kindness, admired for the way she connected with people from all walks of life. She devoted herself to humanitarian work and was especially known for supporting children, the homeless, people living with AIDS, and victims of landmines. At a time when fear and stigma were widespread, Diana helped change public attitudes simply through her compassion and courage. Her life was also marked by intense public scrutiny and personal struggles. Her marriage eventually broke down, and her divorce from Charles was finalized in 1996. Even after stepping away from many formal royal duties, Diana remained one of the most beloved and influential public figures in the world. On 31 August 1997, Diana died in a car crash in Paris at the age of 36. Her death caused an outpouring of grief across the world. To this day, she is remembered not only as a princess, but as a woman whose kindness, vulnerability, and deep humanity touched millions of lives.
